AAFES

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) is hardly a typical convenience store, and its customer is not your rank-and-file shopper.

With locations far from ordinary street corners, AAFES caters to military personnel and, according to its website, offers a variety of retail services, including an array of quick-service restaurants such as Burger King, Starbucks and Taco Bell; convenience stores; clothing shops; and movie theaters.

When it comes to fuel, the military program stays competitive with street prices by surveying nearby locations daily and adjusting prices to match the lowest price by grade of fuel. AAFES also participates in the Military Star Rewards Program, where personnel can earn a $20 rewards card for every 2,000 points accumulated.
