The Spinx Co. Inc., Greenville, S.C., which has stores in South Carolina, harnesses technology to drive fuel sales, including a mobile app that features real-time Spinx fuel prices. Users of the app can manage their Spinx Xtras loyalty card, which provides a 5-cent-per-gallon (CPG) discount for every $25 in-store purchase. Those who enroll in it as a debit card earn 5 CPG off every fuel purchase.

The convenience store also proves a powerful draw. The latest Spinx format measures 6,800 square feet with fresh and healthful meals and snacks, a smoothie station and quick-service restaurants such as Burger King and Dunkin’ Donuts. The forecourt features a lofty, brightly lit canopy with eight fuel pumps and an on-site car wash.

Like many of the Fuels 50 brands, Spinx has also begun selling some alternative fuels. It has sold E85 for several years. In 2016, the chain added DC Fast Charger electric-vehicle charging stations at seven sites. And in 2015, it added compressed natural gas at one location.
