Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel had issued subpoenas seeking information from the companies on what they had paid wholesalers for gasoline they sold to consumers. He said at the time that his investigation was prompted by several thousand complaints.
McDaniel's office said all 15 companies subpoenaed have responded, but more [image-nocss] information and documentation was being sought from most of them. He said four parties have provided documentation showing their conduct did not violate the Arkansas Price-Gouging Law or the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
The four cleared of wrongdoing are 31-38 Grocery, Ward; Circle C Community Grocery, Wooster; A.J.'s Station, Paragould; and Day & Nite Stores, including stores at El Dorado, Hampton, Sheridan, Warren, England, Stephens and Camden.
A KARK-TV report added that the Attorney General's office sent a letter to these companies thanking them for their cooperation and advising them that the investigation into their companies is now closed. The Attorney General's office has not yet reached any conclusions as to the remaining parties. As those investigations continue or are concluded, appropriate statements will be issued.
