TAYLOR, Mich. -- For the second consecutive year, Atlas Oil Co., a provider of round-the-clock petroleum products and services, has earned a spot on "Metropolitan Detroit's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For" list. It also was recognized on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the nation for the third year running.
The 101 Best and Brightest awards were established by the Michigan Business and Professional Association (MPBA) to honor companies that practice innovative strategies and represent best practices in human resources. Companies on the list are leaders in creating organizational value and business results through their best practices and policies in human-resource management. The awards are a testament to the fact that these companies are ideal places for employees to work.

The award process consists of a nomination, anonymous employee surveys by an independent research firm and an extensive survey of the company's human resources department.

Meanwhile, Atlas Oil Co. increased its position on the Inc. 5000 list by 1,226 spots to 2,920 overall. Within the energy industry, Atlas ranks 65, and in Michigan, where Atlas is headquartered, the company is ranked No. 41.

In a stagnant economic environment, the median growth rate of 2011 Inc. 5000 companies remains an impressive 94%. The companies on this year's list report having created 350,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $366 billion, up 14% from last year.

Taylor, Mich.-based Atlas Oil meets the fuel and service needs of businesses, municipalities and government agencies in 23 states. Atlas also supplies fuel to nearly 400 gasoline convenience stores throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
