Cheek Elected 2012 Petroleum Equipment Institute President

Cooper, Farrell to serve as 2012 PEI officers

CHICAGO -- Joey Cheek, president of JMP Solutions Inc., Tampa, Fla., has been elected by the members of the Petroleum Equipment Institute (PEI) to serve as president of the organization. He was elected during the Institute's 61st annual convention and trade show in Chicago, and will take office January 1, 2012.

Also, Terry Cooper, president of Acterra Group Inc., Marion, Iowa, has been elected to serve as vice president, and Phil Farrell, president of Double Check Co. Inc., Kansas City, Mo., has been appointed PEI's treasurer by the association's board.

Most recently, Cheek served as PEI's vice president. He replaces Dennis Rethmeier, president of Western Pump Inc., San Diego, as president of PEI.

Cheek has served as the president of JMP Solutions since 2003. Founded in 1963, JMP Solutions provides sales, service, installation, design, engineering and fuel facility construction of convenience stores, gas stations, car care centers, fuel depots and garage facilities. Cheek has served as chairman of the PEI convention/education committee, on the PEI board of directors and the PEI executive committee. He is currently a member of the Pioneer 10-Group and the installation of underground liquid storage systems (RP100) committee.

"Joey has been an active advocate for the Petroleum Equipment Institute and its activities for many years and, as such, will make a great president," said Robert Renkes, PEI's executive vice president. "We look forward to welcoming Joey to his new position and are convinced that his time as president will provide long-term benefits for PEI and its member companies."

Cooper most recently served as PEI's treasurer. He will take office January 1, 2012.

Cooper has served as the president of Acterra Group since 1998. Founded in 1958, Acterra Group provides sales, installation and service of all equipment used in gas stations, bulk plants, terminals, airports, industrial fueling facilities and c-stores. He has served on the PEI convention/education, manufacturing relations and safety committees in addition to serving two terms on the PEI board. He is currently a member of the shop-fabricated aboveground tank overfill prevention (RP600) committee and chair of the bulk storage plant installation (RP800) committee. He is a member of the Independence 10-Group.

Farrell assumes office immediately. He has served as the president of Double Check since 1980.

Founded in 1965, Double Check is a distributor of petroleum, car wash and lubrication equipment and industrial pumps. The company has six offices throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. Farrell has served on the convention/education committee, executive committee and the PEI board. He is a member of the Republic 10-Group.
