C.N. Brown Enters Maine Electricity Market With Big Apple Angle

Launching rewards program across convenience, gasoline, heating oil, electricity locations

SOUTH PARIS, Maine -- Gasoline, heating oil and convenience retailer C.N. Brown Co. has expanded its energy options by offering low-cost electricity to customers in Maine and will link it to a new Big Apple convenience store and gas stattion rewards program.

A family business for 65 years, C.N. Brown operates 78 Big Apple Food Stores, 27 Red Shield Heating Oil locations and 20 gas stations.

It sells a range of energy products, including branded and unbranded gasoline, heating oil, propane, kerosene, diesel fuel for both on road and off road, wood pellets and natural gas. Providing low-cost electricity is the next step in providing loyal customers with all of their energy needs, the company said.

"In addition to being extremely competitive in the electricity market, we plan to offer our loyal customers deep discounts on other product lines in our business," said Jinger Duryea, president of C.N. Brown.

"In addition to our great electricity rate, our customers will enjoy an additional five cents off per gallon on C.N. Brown's 'Red Shield' Heating Oil, K-1 or Propane cash price," said Jeffrey Jones, president of C.N. Brown Electricity.

In mid-January the company will introduce "C.N. Brown Rewards," a loyalty program that will offer additional discounts and savings, according to Sue Goulet, loyalty coordinator and project manager for C.N. Brown.

Initially, discounts and savings will apply to customers who make purchases at the Big Apple Food Stores throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. The second phase will include purchases at C.N. Brown's gas stations, Red Shield Heating Oil locations and C.N. Brown Electricity.
