A CNG Valentine's Gift

Love's selling compressed natural gas for 99 cents for limited time in Texas Triangle

OKLAHOMA CITY -- With the recent opening of a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling location in San Antonio, Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores Inc. is officially offering the alternative fuel in all three "Texas Triangle" cities.

To mark the occasion, the Oklahoma City-based travel-center chain is offering CNG for 99 cents per gasoline gallon equivalent (GGE) for a two-week period at select sites in the Triangle cities of San Antonio, Dallas and Houston and along Interstate 40, starting this Valentine's Day.

"Love's Fast-Fill CNG network has grown from one location in 2012 to 11 facilities and counting, largely because of the demand and support we've received from our customers," said Bill Cashmareck, general manager of natural gas at Love's Travel Stops. "Offering CNG to heavy-duty fleets and passenger vehicles for 99 cents is a way we can show our appreciation."

The 99-cent CNG offer will be available at one Love's Travel Stop in each city, along with two sites on I-40, from Feb. 14 to 12 a.m. on March 1.

These include locations on:

  • I-35 in San Antonio at exit 144.
  • I-30 in Rockwall, Texas, at exit 70.
  • I-10 in Katy, Texas, on exit 737.
  • I-40 in Amarillo, Texas, on exit 74.
  • I-40 in Oklahoma City on exit 166.

Love's opened its first Texas Triangle CNG site in early 2014 in the Houston suburb of Willis, and the first Dallas location last summer. The next and last CNG site planned for the I-40 corridor is slated to open in Seguin, Texas, this summer.

The travel chain planned these sites to ease the travel for CNG drivers between San Antonio, Houston and Dallas. It plans to offer fast-fill CNG at a total of seven travel stops stretching over 1,300 miles of I-40 by fall 2015.

Love's fast-fill CNG is said to provide a fill rate of 10 GGE per minute or faster, filling up a 100-GGE tank in 10 minutes or less.

Family-owned and -operated since 1964, Love's has more than 330 locations and more than 200 Love's Tire Care centers in 40 states.
