CRU 2015 to Offer Enhanced Forecourt/Fuel Category Management Program

Special pre-conference curriculum includes store tours, innovative sessions

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- The forecourt makes up roughly three-quarters of the total revenues of the convenience and retail petroleum industry. Thus, Convenience Retailing University (CRU)--held at the InterContinental Dallas from February 4-6, 2015, and presented by CSP Business Media--reveals an enhanced fuel category management program.

This special five-and-a-half hour educational track will occur the morning of Wednesday, February 4, prior to the conference's opening session, and it will be sponsored by leading organizations such as the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America (SIGMA). Along with experiencing insightful sessions providing real-world case studies and guiding the retailer toward the future of the forecourt, operators will be taken to visit a couple of newer c-stores in the north Dallas area.

"The numbers show that as a nation, we are driving less and pumping less gasoline," said Kay Segal, senior vice president at CSP Business Media. "But the good news is that innovation at the forecourt is at an all-time high.

The program will begin with a trip to see what some of the nation's best operators, RaceTrac and QuikTrip, are doing at the forecourt

Upon return, attendees will take part in educational sessions to discuss and analyze the world of pricing, customer engagement, fuel margin optimization and new technologies in fuel and pumps. These thought-provoking sessions will be presented by speakers with supreme knowledge and experience of the fuel industry including:

  • Stewart Spinks, chairman and founder of The Spinx Co. (sponsored by SIGMA).
  • Kelvin Covington, president and CEO of Kelvin Covington Consulting LLC.
  • Jeff Warnick, CPA and CFO of Fabulous Freddy's.

The fuel category management and forecourt sessions are specifically designed for fuel category managers, pricing analysts and those tasked with forecourt strategy. In addition to the targeted fuel category sessions, CRU offers nearly 20 more hours of in-store category management courses that will highlight key trends and data while offering valuable ideas to stimulate creative thought toward increasing sales and profits.

You will also find thought-provoking keynote speakers who will not only provide tactics to drive growth in your store, but will deliver inspirational messages to do something better in your business and in life.
