On-Demand Fuel Delivery Expands in Texas

Yoshi doubles its service footprint and offers fueling for boats in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas -- Yoshi, the on-demand fueling provider, has doubled its service area in one of its newest markets: Austin, Texas.

The service, which provides fueling, car washes and maintenance on-site, first came to Austin in 2017, originally in its downtown, Hyde Park, East Austin and the University of Texas areas. Due to what Yoshi describes as “explosive demand” from consumers and businesses, it is now adding the South Congress and South Lamar areas of Austin, and parts north of the city, to its market area.

To use Yoshi, customers order a service via the Yoshi app, specifying a time and location of the vehicle. Services, including fuel delivery, oil changes, car washes and other car maintenance services, can be provided on a subscription-based or on-demand basis.

Besides fueling up cars and trucks in the Austin market, Yoshi is also filling up boats at Lake Austin and Lake Travis.

“Austin has been a great city for Yoshi,” said Nick Alexander, CEO of Yoshi. “There is a high proportion of car commuters here, and our service is getting high marks from customers for its convenience and value. We are seeing growing demand among Austin boat owners as well. They rely on Yoshi to keep their boats fueled so on the weekends they can jump in and go.”

Yoshi said it charges the AAA average gas price for their markets for its fuel. In Austin, as in many of its markets, it offers fueling for both consumers and fleets.

Based in San Francisco, Yoshi started its service in San Francisco and Nashville in 2015. It added Atlanta in 2016 and Austin in 2017. This year, it has debuted in Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla., Cleveland and St. Louis. Yoshi’s recent growth is being supported by $13.7 million in Series A funding led by ExxonMobil Corp. and General Motors. It plans to expand to 25 cities by the end of 2018.
