First Arco Site Opens in Mexico

Hundreds of locations to come in next several years

SAN ANTONIO -- Andeavor has opened the first Arco-branded gasoline station in Mexico.

The site, located just across the U.S. border in Tijuana, Mexico, is the first of 200 to 400 Arco-branded locations planned for Baja California and Sonora in “the next several years,” according to Andeavor, formerly known as Tesoro Corp. The company has signed a wholesale marketing agreement with Profesional Fuels Solutions S.A. de C.V. (ProFuels) to grow the Arco brand through supply contracts with independent owners and operators. All Arco-branded sites will sell Top Tier-certified gasoline.

"We are excited to have officially introduced the Arco brand in Mexico," said Greg Goff, chairman, president and CEO of Andeavor. "Opening our first Arco station in northwest Mexico is a natural and strategic link for our West Coast operations and integrated value chain, furthering our marketing integration in a growing market."

The refiner considers itself well positioned for growing in Mexico thanks to its capacity on pipelines owned by state oil company Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and its access to storage terminals. This would allow Andeavor to transport product within Mexico’s existing fueling infrastructure.

Consumer research has also measured strong awareness of the Arco brand and its quality among Mexicans, according to Andeavor.

"We're incredibly excited to open the first Arco station in Mexico," said Luis Enrique Rodriguez, president of ProFuels. "Mexican consumers are interested in having high-quality fueling options and we believe that Arco is the brand best suited to deliver on that consumer value proposition."

ProFuels and Andeavor are planning a grand opening to celebrate the Arco brand’s launch, along with an advertising campaign with billboard placements, print ads, and TV and radio sponsorships.

Andeavor, San Antonio, is an integrated refiner with more than 3,100 retail stations flying several fuel brands, including Arco, Superamerica, Shell, Exxon, Mobil, Tesoro, USA Gasoline and Giant. There are approximately 1,500 Arco-branded locations in Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Andeavor operates 10 refineries with a combined capacity of approximately 1.2 million barrels per day in the central and western United States. It also has ownership in two logistics businesses, Andeavor Logistics LP and Western Refining Logistics LP, and ownership of their general partners.
