Gulf Oil Expands, Diversifies

Former Hess exec to run newly launched commercial, industrial fuel supply business

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Calling it a "natural progression" for the national energy company, Gulf Oil LP has announced the continued expansion and diversification of its energy offerings through its entry into the commercial and industrial fuel supply business.

Gulf Oil's nationwide infrastructure--including 12 proprietary terminals and more than 130 other fuel supply points, pricing, delivery logistics and customer service--supports this move to supply fuel directly to commercial and industrial businesses. The company has Gulf Oil branded fuel operations in 30 states.

"We are very excited to be entering the commercial and industrial fuel supply market. We see a tremendous opportunity to reliably deliver companies the high-quality products they require at fair prices that will help them meet their business and operational needs," said Ron Sabia, president of Gulf Oil. "As a national energy company, this new offering is a natural progression for us, and is part of the ongoing diversification and expansion of our already significant portfolio."

As reported in a 21st Century Smoke/CSP Daily News Flash, industry veteran Douglas Moore will lead the day-to day-operations of the new commercial and industrial business. He joins Gulf Oil from Hess Corp., where he most recently served as nationwide manager of motor fuels and energy marketing. Moore's 25-year career with Hess includes growing and managing what became one of the largest commercial and industrial fuel supply operations in the nation.

"Gulf is uniquely positioned to become a leader in this market, and Doug Moore, with his deep background and experience and relationships in commercial and industrial fuel supply, is a terrific addition to our senior staff," said Walter F. Brickowski, senior vice president of unbranded marketing for Gulf Oil. "We are truly hitting the ground running thanks to our very talented team, our national infrastructure, our ability to deliver competitive pricing and our unparalleled customer service."

Other recent Gulf Oil moves have included launching Gulf Electricity to provide consumers with electricity at reduced rates, and converting a significant portion of its trucking fleet to liquefied natural gas (LNG). The company launched Gulf Electricity in Jan. 2012, which currently provides discounted electricity service to consumers and small businesses in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Gulf Oil, based in Framingham, Mass., is a national, branded supplier of motor fuels throughout the United States and its territories. It is one of the Northeast's largest wholesalers of refined petroleum products. Gulf Oil distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 2,500 branded gasoline retail centers, 12 proprietary oil terminals and more than 130 other supply points. Gulf Oil supplies gasoline, heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene through its terminal network.
