LAKEVILLE, Minn. -- Holiday Stationstores Inc. has added compressed natural gas (CNG) to another site.

The chain partnered again with CNG station developer Trillium CNG on its second location for the alternative fuel at an existing store in Lakeville, Minn. Holiday and Trillium opened their first CNG site in Duluth, Minn., in 2014. Travel-center chain Love’s Travel Stops, which has its own network of CNG fueling sites, acquired Trillium CNG earlier this year.

“We recognize the need to offer customers a cleaner, more cost-effective fuel alternative and are pleased to partner with Trillium CNG on the opening,” said Brian Ochocki, vice president for Holiday Stationstores, a privately owned chain of more than 500 franchise and corporate-owned stores based in Bloomington, Minn. “We are excited to offer local fleets this option at a convenient location open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

Trillium CNG built and will maintain the CNG fueling site at the Holiday store, located at 21100 Kenrick Ave. It is open to all vehicles, with easy access for heavy-duty trucks. Its dual-hose dispenser can fuel up two semitrailers at the same time.

“We are proud to be working with Holiday, a company that recognizes the importance of making CNG available in the Twin Cities market,” said Bill Cashmareck, general manager of Chicago-based Trillium CNG. “Fleet operators know that we stake our reputation on delivering a great fueling experience for our customers—fast, safe and reliable.”

Trillium’s team has 20 years’ experience with the alternative fuel and a national network of 60 public-access CNG locations in 15 states. It previously partnered with Mirabito Energy Products and Tri Star Energy on CNG fueling sites.

Natural gas emits 20% to 25% fewer greenhouse gases than conventional diesel, and has more stable pricing, according to the company.

Holiday and Trillium will hold a grand opening on June 20 at the Lakeville site, with guest speakers, a CNG fueling demonstration, equipment tour and open house.
