Sheetz Opens 10th E15 Site

More locations to come in Virginia as chain taps into USDA grants

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz has opened its 10th location with E15, the 15% ethanol blend.

The chain added E15 and E85, the 85% ethanol blend, to its store in Manassas, Va. This also happens to be the 10th gas station in the state to offer E15. To help fund the installation, Sheetz received a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership, which aims to increase the availability of domestic biofuel in Virginia.

Ten more Sheetz sites in Virginia are slated to add E15 and E85 through the partnership.

“Sheetz is proud to be a partner in the Biofuel Infrastructure Project Grant,” said Mike Lorenz, executive vice president of petroleum supply, in a statement. “As we continue our reputation as an industry innovator and the ultimate one-stop shop, we are pleased to continue expanding the offering of E85 and E15, the new and innovative blends of fuel, to consumers in Virginia.”

Sheetz joins chains such as RaceTrac, Gate Petroleum, Thorntons, Kum & Go, Murphy USA, Mapco, Family Express, Minnoco and Protec in offering E15.

The Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership Grant offers nearly $5 million toward installing ethanol refueling infrastructure in Virginia and Maryland.

Founded in 1952 in Altoona, Pa., Sheetz Inc. has more than 500 stores in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina.
