Shell Sells Seattle Sites

PacWest, Jacksons Food Stores buy 66 stores, supply rights to 31 more
MERIDIAN, Idaho -- Shell Oil Products US sold its convenience stores in the Seattle market to PacWest Energy LLC, a joint venture between Shell Oil and Jacksons Food Stores Inc.

PacWest Energy acquired 66 Shell-branded retail locations in the Seattle area last week, plus the right to supply an additional 31 Shell-branded retail locations owned by independent dealers in the Seattle area, according to a Shell spokesperson. The sites will continue to operate under the Shell brand and will continue to sell Shell-branded fuels.

Other terms of the deal, including price, [image-nocss] are confidential.

In 2005, Houston-based Shell Oil Products US announced its plan to transition its markets from a direct-delivered fuel model to a wholesale-delivered model. The deal with PacWest Energy is part of that plan. The changes are expected to be transparent to consumers and services are not interrupted, according to the Shell spokesperson.

In March, 2008, Shell Oil Products US transitioned ownership or supply of 84 branded sites to PacWest Energy LLC in the Portland, Ore., market. There, the sites continue to sell Shell-branded gasoline, although PacWest rebranded the convenience stores at 62 of the locations to the Jacksons brand.
