Some Jersey BPs on Empty Temporarily

Terminal problem being resolved

CARTERET, N.J. -- A number of BP gas stations in central and northern New Jersey ran dry this week, reported the Associated Press.

The shortage stemmed from a problem at the company's terminal in Carteret, spokesperson Scott Dean said Friday. "We would just [like to] apologize to our customers for the trouble this caused," Dean said.

Motorists on Friday morning found no fuel at several BP stations including some in Livingston and West Orange, where station manager Mike Cumur said East Orange, Hillside and Union were also out of [image-nocss] gasoline.

The problems began Tuesday, when the equipment that fills tanker trucks with gasoline was unable to switch to a different blend of fuel, Dean said.

One of the stations was restored by Wednesday, with more following on Thursday and Friday.

"We've got lots of trucks rolling," Dean said. "Things are back to normal now."
