ANDERSON, S.C. --The Spinx Co. has announced an agreement to add a Piedmont compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station at a Spinx retail location. Piedmont will lease space at an existing Spinx convenience store in Anderson, S.C., in order to install the necessary CNG refueling equipment and compressors.
Piedmont will own and maintain the site's CNG facilities, which will be open to the public for use by commercial fleets and individual vehicles. The new station will be Charlotte, N.C.-based Piedmont's 11th public CNG refueling station in the Carolinas and in Tennessee, and its third public CNG station in South Carolina--and its first at a convenience store"
"We are pleased to partner with Piedmont Natural Gas in order to offer CNG to our commercial fleet and individual customers. The use of CNG as a transportation fuel is growing as is the refueling infrastructure that supports that growth. We believe this project fits very well with our own vision and mission to make people's lives easier and to provide quality services and products. We are looking forward to working with Piedmont on this exciting project," said Steve Spinks, CEO of Spinx.
"This is an important milestone for us as we continue to extend the base of our public CNG refueling stations along the important I-85 corridor in North and South Carolina," said Piedmont's senior vice president and CFO, Karl W. Newlin.
Greenville, S.C.-based Spinx owns and operates 81 convenience stores in North Carolina and South Carolina.
