PACIFIC, Mo. -- St. Louis-area gasoline dispensing facilities are acting quickly to replace Stage II vapor recovery systems, according to a May 8, 2013, report in The St. Louis Post Dispatch. Husky Corp.'s Brad Baker, executive vice president of the Pacific, Mo.-based developer and supplier of fuel nozzles and accessories, told the newspaper that Husky has geared up for months to help stations convert by developing the EZ-Connect hanging hardware solution.
The article cited figures from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) indicating that 50% of the 765 active Stage II facilities in Franklin, Jefferson, St. Charles and St. Louis counties and the City of St. Louis had submitted applications to decommission. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) permits states like Missouri to lift Stage II requirements because they are no longer cost effective at reducing air pollution.
Stations seeking a fast and easy way to decommission are turning to Husky's EZ Connect, among other options, the company said.
Husky's EZ-Connect allows fuel marketers to remove their old dispenser hose assembly and replace it in one step. EZ-Connect is available according to customer specifications:
- EZ-Connect Adapter: Plugs the fuel hose vapor recovery line at the dispenser.
- Whip Hose: Eight or nine inch lengths.
- Safe-T-Break: Chose from single use, standard re-connectable or MagBreak magnetic re-connectable breakaway devices.
- Fuel Hose: Hard Wall, Wire Braid, Soft Wall.
- Multi-plane Swivel.
- Pressure-activated conventional Nozzle.
Stage II systems are more expensive and require additional maintenance expenses than conventional systems, said the company.
For 65 years, Husky has developed and offered American-made fuel nozzles, safe-t-breaks, as well as accessories and service. In addition to its line of nozzles for vapor recovery, conventional fueling, truck and high volume, farm and commercial and convenience stores, it now features curb and farm hoses, oil lube products and aviation hoses.
