TA Opens More LNG ‘Super Lanes’

And 10 TravelCenters truck service facilities open to service natural gas vehicles

WESTLAKE, Ohio --TravelCenters of America LLC has opened liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling lanes at its TA location at I-5, Exit 407 (St. Hwy 33) in Santa Nella, Calif.

Shell TravelCenters of America TA liquefied natural gas (LNG)

In early 2014, Shell and TravelCenters of America finalized an agreement to develop a U.S. nationwide network of LNG fueling centers for heavy-duty road transport customers. The plan was to build at least two LNG fueling lanes and a storage facility at up to 100 existing TA and Petro Stopping Centers branded full-service travel centers along the U.S. interstate highway system.

TravelCenters of America has also completed retrofitting its TA Truck Service and Petro:Lube facilities to provide truck maintenance and repair on both compressed natural gas (CNG) and LNG-fueled trucks.

These locations are:

  • TA Harrisburg, Pa., No. 012 (I-81, Exit 77)
  • TA Baytown, Texas, No. 017 (I-10, Exit 789)
  • TA Lafayette, La., No. 161 (I-10, Exit 101)
  • TA San Antonio, Texas, No. 147 (I-10, Exit 583)
  • TA Dayton, Ohio, No. 011 (I-70, Exit 10)
  • TA Dallas South, Texas, No. 150 (I-20, Exit 472)
  • TA Santa Nella, Calif., No. 163 (I-5, Exit 407)
  • TA Wheeler Ridge, Calif., No. 239 (I-5, Exit 219A/219B)
  • Petro Shawn Hubbard Ontario, Calif., Stopping Center, No. 026 (I-10, Exit 57)
  • Petro Jerry Fritts Jr. West Memphis, Ark., Stopping Center, No. 311 (I-40, Exit 280/I-55, Exit 4)

“We are pleased to announce that Santa Nella is now our sixth site to offer LNG along with having 10 truck maintenance and repair facilities for LNG and CNG vehicles,” said Tom O’Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters. “All of our LNG lanes are ‘super lanes’ in that they are equipped to dispense LNG, diesel and DEF [diesel exhaust fluid]. Because super lanes are integrated with existing fuel lanes, we do not interrupt truck traffic flow or reduce available truck parking spaces.”

These locations are now equipped to offer LNG fuel:

  • TA Baytown, Texas, No. 017 (I-10, Exit 789)
  • TA Lafayette, La., No. 161 (I-10, Exit 101)
  • TA San Antonio, Texas, No. 147 (I-10, Exit 583)
  • TA Dallas South, Texas, No. 150 (I-20, Exit 472)
  • TA Santa Nella, Calif., No. 163 (I-5, Exit 407)
  • Petro Shawn Hubbard Ontario, Calif., Stopping Center, No. 026 (I-10, Exit 57)
