Tesoro Names Kirshner Senior Vice President of Commercial Business

Atlas Oil promotes Ryan to operations VP, hires Loomis as sales operations director

SAN ANTONIO -- Tesoro Corp. has appointed David Kirshner to lead its commercial business, reporting to chief executive officer Greg Goff.

Kirshner was most recently vice president, supply, trading and transportation for Hess Corp., New York. He previously held a variety of leadership roles with Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil Corp.

His broad experience across the marketing and refining spectrum will help us further develop and strengthen our supply, trading and optimization performance," said Goff. "His proven abilities and strong leadership experience will help us as we drive towards achievement of our strategic objectives."

San Antonio-based Tesoro is an independent refiner and marketer of petroleum products. Through its subsidiaries, it operates seven refineries in the western United States with a combined capacity of approximately 665,000 barrels per day. Tesoro's retail-marketing system includes nearly 1,200 branded retail stations, of which more than 375 are company operated under the Tesoro, Shell and USA Gasoline brands.

Separately, Atlas Oil Co., Taylor, Mich., has made two new executive appointments. Shawn Ryan, formerly director of the company's DELTA Process Improvement team, has been promoted to vice president of operations. Ryan will also join the company's senior leadership team. In addition, Atlas has hired Michael Loomis as director of sales operations.

As head of operations, Ryan will oversee Atlas facilities and operations in Taylor, Mich., Niles, Mich., and Hammond, Ind., including our fleet of transport and tankwagon trucks and all fuel deliveries made by Atlas drivers. In addition, he will be responsible for customer service operations which are also available 24/7.

He succeeds David Barnes, the company's executive vice president and general counsel, who was acting as interim vice president since earlier this year.

Ryan came to Atlas in April 2010. Prior to joining Atlas, he was at Tefen Management Consulting as director of life sciences and supply chain. Before that, he was director of operations at AT Kearney MRO where he was responsible for indirect material delivery and distribution for 10 U.S. powertrain facilities. He also worked for General Motors in warehouse operations and internal logistics prior to AT Kearney.

Loomis joins Atlas as director of sales operations, responsible for sales tracking and performance improvement and measurement programs. He reports to Bob Kenyon, executive vice president, sales and business development.

Loomis comes to Atlas from Sealy Inc., where he was director of sales for the Great Lakes East region. He held increasingly responsible positions at Sealy since starting with the company in 1999 as territory manager for Nebraska and Texas. Prior to joining Sealy, he was a regional marketing manager for Lexmark International in Lexington, Ky.

Taylor, Mich.-based Atlas is a national fuel supply and distribution company. With 24/7/365 operations, it meets the fuel and service needs of businesses, municipalities and government agencies in 23 states. Atlas also supplies fuel to nearly 400 gasoline convenience stores throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

It maintains operational centers in Taylor, Mich., Niles, Mich., Hammond, Ind., Houston and Toledo, Ohio, and has satellite offices in Minneapolis, Scottsdale, Ariz., La Feria, Texas, Odessa, Texas, and Albuquerque, N.M.
