Tri Star Opens Public Fast-Fill CNG Station

Nashville location is at Pacific Pride site

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A newly constructed public access fast-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station built, operated and maintained by Trillium CNG is now open in Nashville, Tenn. Located at a Tri Star Energy-owned Pacific Pride site, the station will serve as the primary southeast fueling location for Green Bay, Wis.-based Paper Transport's 100-vehicle natural gas-powered fleet.

"We recognized the need to offer customers a cleaner, more cost-effective fuel alternative and are pleased to partner with Trillium CNG on the opening," said Rob Jewell, vice president for Tri Star Energy. "CNG fleets travelling these corridors--as well as local fleets--now have a conveniently located option open 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

"The station supports our mission of reducing dependence on foreign petroleum in Tennessee through the use of domestically produced compressed natural gas," said Atha Comiskey, executive director of Middle Tennessee Clean Fuels. "The number of fleets switching to CNG is increasing and we are proud of Tri Star and Trillium for seeing the need to offer this lower costing fuel for its users and as a cleaner burning alternative fuel that will improve the air quality."

The station, which is open to all vehicles that use CNG, uses a public-access card reader system and is designed to allow easy access in and out by heavy-duty fleet trucks. The two dual-hose dispensers allow two semitrailers to fuel at the same time, and features Trillium CNG's proprietary fast-fill hydraulic intensifier compressor.

"We are proud to be working with Tri Star Energy and Paper Transport, who both recognize the importance of making CNG available in the Nashville market," said Mary Boettcher, president of Trillium CNG. "Fleet operators know that we stake our reputation on delivering a great fueling experience for our customers--fast, safe and reliable."

Boettcher said that in addition to the environmental impacts, 98% of the natural gas used in the United States is produced in North America, and fleets save an average of $1.50 per diesel gallon equivalent versus diesel.

Tri Star Energy and Trillium CNG held a grand opening including a ribbon cutting, station tour and fueling demonstration on June 18. Members of Middle Tennessee Clean Fuels, government officials and fleets interested in learning more about CNG joined Tri Star Energy and Trillium CNG at the event.
