Tri-State Fueling Loyalty With Marathon

Supply deal with MPC will include new loyalty programs

WHEELING, W.Va. -- The ability to offer new customer loyalty programs is one of the reasons Tri-State Petroleum Corp., a family-owned convenience store operator and wholesale distributor of motor fuels in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, has announced a new brand relationship with Marathon Petroleum Co. (MPC).

As reported in a Raymond James/CSP Daily News Flash on Friday, MPC will be supplying branded fuel to all of Tri-State Petroleum's convenience store locations.

The stations were previously branded Exxon, according to a TRIBLive report. The company expects the conversions to be complete by mid-summer, said the report.

"At Tri-State Petroleum we have always valued the strong relationships we've forged with vendors, suppliers and other business partners," Colleen C. McGlinn, CEO of Tri-State Petroleum, said in a statement. "That's why we're so pleased to announce a new brand relationship with Marathon Petroleum Co. Partnering with MPC will enable us to offer many benefits to our customers, including quality fuel, competitive fuel prices and new customer loyalty programs."

She added, "This new partnership with Marathon Petroleum Co. is just one of many positive changes on the horizon for Tri-State Petroleum this year that will enhance our brand and our customers' experience."

The company will begin a discount program July 1 at its Oakdale, Pa., store, McGlinn told TRIBLive.

Findlay, Ohio-based MPC, spun off from Houston-based Marathon Oil Corp. in July 2011, is the nation's fifth-largest refiner with a crude capacity of approximately 1.2 million barrels per day in its six-refinery system. Marathon-brand gasoline is sold through more than 5,000 independently owned locations across 18 states.

Tri-State Petroleum, based in Wheeling, W.Va., is a family-owned convenience store operator and wholesale distributor of motor fuels in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Founded in 1974, the company owns 29 and supplies fuel to an additional 18 convenience stores and services branded accounts and commercial and industrial accounts within the three-state area.
