United Express Fuels to Debut

United Supermarkets to offer its own gas brand starting March 1
LUBBOCK, Texas -- Beginning March 1, fuel stations at most United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United grocery store locations will take on a new look. At that time, the company will introduce its own brand of fuel, United Express Fuels, at 19 of its 22 fuel stations companywide.

The conversion to United Express Fuels will occur by geographic market, beginning with Lubbock area stores and followed closely by those in the Amarillo area. The entire effort should be complete by April 1, the company said.

The three stations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area will [image-nocss] remain under the Market Street brand. The company has offered the ConocoPhillips brands for the past five years.

The reason behind the switch is simple, said Chris Bridgford, director of fuel operations for United Supermarkets LLC. "Launching our own branded fuel program is a natural progression of our core philosophy of providing our guests the highest quality, value and service possible."

He added, "Our guests expected United Supermarkets to offer the highest-quality products. With United Express Fuels, we'll continue to honor that commitment with fuel products that are...100% guaranteed."

Bridgford noted that United Express Fuel products will continue to meet or exceed all government standards. "As we do today, we will offer the very best gasoline and diesel products from major domestic refineries from our local areas, whose products include detergent-cleansing additives, which help clean the engine while simultaneously reducing emissions according to EPA [Environmental Protection Agency] standards and auto manufacturer requirements for quality," he said.

"Our company has enjoyed great success with our own brands inside the storeour guests will now be able to enjoy that same level of quality and value at the pump, as well," he said.

Bridgford noted that United also will offer a fleet card option to businesses interested in tailoring a program to meet their specific needs.

Now in its 94th year of operation, United Supermarkets is a family-owned grocery chain with stores in 30 markets across north and west Texas. A self-distributing company with its headquarters and distribution center in Lubbock, Texas, it currently operates 50 stores under three distinct formats: United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United.
