United Fuel & Energy Promotes Juliano to President & COO

Greinke will continue to serve as chairman & CEO
ORANGE, Calif. -- United Fuel & Energy Corp., a leading distributor of gasoline, diesel, propane and lubricant products to customers in the southwestern and southcentral United States, has announced that Joseph Juliano has been promoted to the position of president and chief operating officer.

Frank P. Greinke, who has served as the chairman of United Fuel's board of directors since October 2007, and as president and chief executive officer since June 2008, will continue to serve as the chairman and CEO.

"Due to Joe's hard work, dedication and expertise at turning [image-nocss] around troubled operations, our operating results have shown substantial improvement since he joined the company in March of 2008 as executive vice president and chief operating officer," said Greinke. "The board and I feel that a promotion to president and chief operating officer is well deserved. Of course, 2009 will likely be a challenging year, but we believe that Joe has demonstrated that he can continue to lead United Fuel in the right direction."

Prior to United Fuel, Juliano, 31, was president of PNEC Corp., which is a distributor of heating oil, gas, diesel, lubricants and alternative fuels in the Pacific Northwest, since 2005. During his tenure at PNEC, he created new vision and strategic direction that successfully repositioned the company as a differentiated and value-added competitor in the market. From 2004 until 2005, Juliano served as vice president of PNEC. From 2002 until joining PNEC in 2004, he served as a territory sales manager for Southern Counties Lubricants LLC, a distributor of lubricants in California, doubling the territory sales volume and increasing gross margin by 100% over a two-year period.

Orange, Calif.-based United Fuel & Energy is engaged in the business of distributing gasoline, diesel, propane and lubricant products primarily in certain markets of Texas, California, New Mexico, Arizona and Oklahoma. United Fuel represents the consolidation of numerous companies, the most significant of which are the Eddins-Walcher Co. and Cardlock Fuels System. United Fuel currently engages in the following activities: cardlock operations (unattended refueling of commercial vehicles), wholesale fuels and lubricants (to commercial customers) and propane distribution (to commercial and residential users).
