Wayne Partners on EMV, Loyalty, Mobile Payment

Teams up with Intel, Wincor Nixdorf, GSTV for cloud-based solutions

AUSTIN, Texas -- New partnerships are allowing pump-maker Wayne Fueling Systems to offer "cloud"-based solutions for options like EMV, mobile payment and loyalty programs, the company announced at the 2014 NACS Show in Las Vegas.

The new offer, called Wayne Cloud Solutions is a suite of forecourt technologies and services that operate with the Wayne Fusion forecourt system and will direct data into cloud-hosted servers. They touch segments of the business inclusive of payment, in-pump video and remote diagnostics.

These services are all meant to comply with data-security mandates set by the payment card industry (PCI) standards body in Wakefield, Mass., and the pending Europay MasterCard and Visa (EMV) protocols as well, the company said.

Partners in this venture include Intel Services, Santa Clara, Calif.; Wincor Nixdorf, Austin, Texas; and GSTV, Birmingham, Mich.

"We are offering new services based on the latest technologies in cloud computing that deliver more value to fuel retailers," said Neil Thomas, CEO of Wayne, Austin, Texas. "Our customers expect Wayne to be at the forefront of technology innovation, and with Wayne Cloud Solutions, we are demonstrating our commitment to meet their needs in conjunction with world-class partners we work with today and others to be announced."

Wayne's cloud-based electronic payment system (EPS) is the first to use the Intel Services Platform for Retail software, officials said. The solution will help retailers implement EMV and deploy software changes, reducing site downtime and delivering secure payment solutions.

Wayne's mobile and loyalty solutions allow fuel retailers to accept a variety of mobile payment and loyalty programs, respond quickly to new payment technologies and deploy new mobile programs, officials said. And using GSTV's programming and promotions capabilities is meant to target pay-at-the-pump-only customers and turn them into c-store shoppers.

In addition, Wayne site operators can access the latest point-of-sale (POS) systems from Wincor Nixdorf with functionality such as backoffice, head-office, quick-serve restaurant (QSR) and coffee shop capabilities. This system allows integration from dispenser to backoffice in one solution, while its remote monitoring and diagnostic solution at fuel retail sites help with site management.

In its totality, the cloud-based service helps provide visibility to network analytics that can help reduce operational expenses and increase uptime and availability, the company said.

"Cloud-based solutions significantly shorten the delivery time of new innovations to the industry," said Tom Chittenden, senior manager of strategic initiatives for Wayne. "And integrating Wayne systems with the expertise of Intel, Wincor Nixdorf and GSTV turns forecourt data into actionable information, which brings value to the retailer."

Wayne Fueling Systems is one of the world's largest suppliers of fuel dispensers, payment terminals, forecourt control devices, POS and other measurement and control solutions to the retail and commercial fueling industry.
