Anew Travel Center offers ethanol blends, biodiesel, convenience, services

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. -- A new travel center brand specializing in biofuels has opened its doors in Cambridge, Neb., offering a range of ethanol blends, biodiesel and services for truckers. Anew Travel Center, located on U.S. 6/34, features nine blender pumps dispensing E10, E15, E30 and E85 and one biodiesel blender pump dispensing B2, B5, B10 and B20. The site also sells conventional diesel.

Nebraska Corn Processing LLC, which has a plant in Cambridge capable of producing 44 million gallons of the biofuel per year, supplies the ethanol.

Anew Travel Center and Nebraska Corn Processing are both part of Zeeland Farm Services Inc., a family-owned business based in Zeeland, Mich., and has four divisions in the agricultural and transportations businesses, including soy biodiesel refining and exports.

The travel center's 8,525-square-foot convenience store offers snacks, candy and packaged beverages, as well household items, hardware, automotive and trucking items. In foodservice, the program features breakfast items such as breakfast sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, cereal, oatmeal and fruit, and for the lunch and evening day-parts, pizza, soups, hot dogs, nachos and sandwiches. A beverage bar includes cold dispensed beverages, a coffee and cappuccino station and f'Real milkshake and smoothie machine.

Next to the c-store is a private drivers' lounge with computers, wireless Internet, TVs and shower facilities. A full-service maintenance garage and automatic truck wash bay are also on site.

The Anew Travel Center hosted a grand opening, ribbon cutting and plaque ceremony earlier this week where it offered guests free coffee, doughnuts, fountain drinks and mini hot dogs, and sold the ethanol blends at special prices--E85 for $1.99, E15 for $3.30 and E30 for $3.10 per gallon.

Asked if other locations were on tap, a Zeeland representative told CSP Daily News that it "is continually seeking opportunities to increase the availability of biofuels to the end consumer."
