CNG in Sooner State

Chesapeake, OnCue Express to open six compressed natural gas stations in Okla.
STILLWATER, Okla. -- Chesapeake Energy Corp. and the OnCue Express convenience store chain announced that they have teamed up to bring six compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations to the Sooner State this winter, The Tulsa World reported. CNG stations will be opened from January 12 to 18 at Chesapeake's field offices in Weatherford, Waynoka, Lindsay, Arkoma and Wilburton, Okla.

The sixth station will be opened later in El Reno.

Stillwater, Okla.-based OnCue Express LLC will own and operate the CNG stations. They will be open to anyone who has a CNG or [image-nocss] bi-fuel vehicle.

Chesapeake Energy, a natural gas explorer and producer, has converted nearly 700 of its fleet vehicles to CNG, said the report.

The Oklahoma City company's founder and CEO, Aubrey McClendon, among many others, has pushed for a nationwide transition to CNG fleet vehicles as a means of getting Americans to stop using oil imported from OPEC countries that may be hostile to the United States, the report added.

"Bringing CNG to communities across Oklahoma allows the community, state and nation to take a step forward in reducing our dependency on foreign oil," James Roller, Chesapeake Energy's market development coordinator, told the newspaper.

Natural gas vehicles reduce fuel expenses and have cleaner emissions, he said.

OnCue Express CEO Jim Griffith said CNG prices are about $1.39 per gallon.

OnCue Express is a chain of convenience stores located throughout Oklahoma, as well as one store in Kansas. This chain is operated by OnCue Marketing LLC, which also operates several Subways, Simple Simon's, and one Dairy Queen store.
