DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. -- Dover Corp. has agreed to acquire car-wash equipment manufacturer Belanger Inc.
Belanger, Northville, Mich., was founded nearly 50 years ago and specializes in tunnel and soft-touch in-bay automatic car washes, as well as bus and truck washes. Its sales in 2018 totaled around $55 million.
After the deal closes—expected for early 2019—Belanger will become part of Dover’s OPW business unit, which is in Dover’s fluids segment. It would combine with OPW’s PDQ Vehicle Wash Systems division, a provider of touch-free and friction in-bay automatic car wash systems and payment terminals, to form OPW Vehicle Wash Solutions.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“With the increasing popularity of commercial car washes, the vehicle wash solutions market is an attractive space where we intend to grow OPW,” said Richard Tobin, president and CEO of Dover, Downers Grove, Ill. “We look forward to welcoming the talented team from Belanger. When combined with our PDQ business, one of our OPW brands, we will be able to offer customers a full breadth of products in this attractive market. This transaction reflects Dover’s commitment to deploying capital strategically in close-to-core markets that offer potential for sustainable, profitable growth, and where our team can create value for shareholders.”
“PDQ and Belanger are both very well-known names in the vehicle wash industry, in part because of their talented people and innovative products,” said Gary Campbell, vice president and general manager of OPW Vehicle Wash Solutions. “We’re thrilled to bring the companies together, providing customers the benefit of our combined insights and product offerings.”
