SPRING, Texas ExxonMobil is expanding its fuel rewards partnership with grocery retailer Albertsons Cos. from the Western region to the East Coast.

ExxonMobil and Albertsons began partnering on the Gas Rewards program in 2018 in the states of Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming. Customers there can earn rewards by shopping at participating area Albertsons stores; they can apply them for discounts of up to $1 per gallon at participating Exxon and Mobil stations.

Now the partnership is hopping over to the East Coast. Shoppers at Albertsons’ Safeway, Acme, Shaw’s and Star Market chains who participate in the Gas Rewards program can earn points on certain grocery, pharmacy and gift card purchases and redeem rewards at approximately 1,500 Exxon- or Mobil-branded sites in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Customers will earn one point for each dollar spent on eligible grocery and pharmacy purchases at East Coast Albertsons grocery stores, and two points for every dollar spent on qualifying gift card purchases.

Once a customer earns 100 points, they can claim rewards through Albertsons’ Just for U app and visit a participating Exxon or Mobil station to redeem them. They can save up to $1 per gallon, depending on the store. Gas Rewards expire at the end of the following month.

“Our customers have high expectations, so we are always finding new ways to drive value for them,” said Eric Carmichael, Americas fuels marketing manager for ExxonMobil, Irving, Texas. “We are excited to expand our strong relationship with Albertsons Cos. to offer even more opportunities for our loyal customers to save on their everyday fuel purchases.”

ExxonMobil has approximately 11,500 branded sites in the United States.

“Our work with ExxonMobil exemplifies how two great companies can join forces to provide something that customers truly benefit from, both at the store and at the fuel pump,” said Angela Moore, director of shopper marketing for Albertsons Cos., Boise, Idaho.

The grocery retailer has more than 2,200 retail stores with nearly 400 fuel centers, operating under the banners Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Acme, Tom Thumb, Randalls, United Supermarkets, Market Street, Pavilions, Star Market, Carrs and Haggen.
