ExxonMobil Debuts Synergy Fuel, Imaging

Engine-cleaning fuel pairs up with new forecourt design

SPRING, Texas -- ExxonMobil is rolling out its new Synergy fuel and forecourt imaging across its branded network in the United States.

The new Synergy fuel suite is available at nearly 11,000 Exxon- and Mobil-branded gas stations in the United States. It features dual detergents and an additive package with seven ingredients designed to remove intake valve deposits, which improves fuel mileage, according to ExxonMobil. The Irving, Texas-based major oil, whose downstream headquarters are in Spring, Texas, created Synergy at the same research and engineering labs where it develops Formula One racing fuels.

At the same time, ExxonMobil is beginning a multiyear rollout of its Synergy forecourt imaging, which has been in test at 50 sites in the United States, including in Illinois, Wisconsin and Tennessee. The imaging features fuel dispensers with a red arch bearing the “Synergy” identification, along with enhanced lighting.

ExxonMobil introduces the Synergy fuel and imaging after Shell’s launch of V-Power high-octane, nitrogen-enriched gasoline, and its 2015 introduction of Shell V-Power Nitro+ Premium formulation, which also features two cleaning agents.

“The new additive formula, which is part of our suite of Fuel Technology Synergy products, is a step-change innovation for our Exxon- and Mobil-branded stations compared to our previous additive package,” said Rob Wollard, Americas retail fuels marketing manager for ExxonMobil Fuels, Lubricants and Specialties Marketing Co.

“From our new Speedpass+ mobile payment option to our Plenti loyalty program, we are constantly looking for new ways to enhance our customers’ experiences and overall satisfaction with our products and services,” Wollard said.

ExxonMobil is one of the world’s largest integrated refiners and marketers of petroleum products. ExxonMobil’s U.S. retail network is supplied by approximately 400 branded wholesalers. Nearly 11,000 gas stations carry the Exxon or Mobil brand throughout the United States.
