Jacksons Food Stores has broken ground on Level 3 Fast Charging Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in partnership with OnPoint EV Solutions. The chargers will be available for use at locations in Idaho, California and Washington starting this summer with more to follow in late 2025 and 2026.

EV drivers will be able to recharge their cars in 20 to 30 minutes from 20% to 80% capacity depending on their charge acceptance rates. OnPoint EV Solutions charging stations, manufactured in the United States by BTC Power, will provide up to 360 kilowatts for a single car, with a minimum of 180 kilowatts charge when both dispensers are in use.

The initial four charging dispensers at each site will be deployed with combined charging system connectors. North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors, Tesla's proprietary EV charging connector and charge port, will be installed later.

The direct current (DC) Level 3 EV charging stations include a solar canopy, LED lights, high speed internet services and security cameras and digital kiosks integrated with Jacksons and OnPoint’s mobile app. All charging stations will accept credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Charging Stations will be available 24 hours a day, every day and be competitively priced with a guaranteed uptime, Jacksons said.

  • Jacksons Food Stores is No. 28 on CSP’s 2025 Top 40 Update to the 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count. Watch for the full 2025 Top 202 ranking in the June issue of CSP magazine and in CSP Daily News.

These sites are expected to deliver charging to thousands of EV drivers traveling the I-84 corridor in Idaho, the I-15 corridor in Southern California, and the I-90 corridor in Washington State daily.

OnPoint will initially deploy four 180 kilowatt public direct-current fast-chargers (DCFC) connectors across nine Jacksons Store sites.

“Adding EV Charging to Jacksons stores gives even more drivers access to best-in-class services like fresh food, beverages, groceries, clean restrooms and, of course, the very good chance they’ll be offered a free banana,” said Cory Jackson, president of Jacksons Food Stores. “Electric Vehicle owners embrace innovation, making them a great fit with the Jacksons brand and all its offerings. Let’s go!”

Jacksons is also testing the UX Edge interactive digital kiosk to further enhance the EV charging experience in collaboration with its Joint Venture partner, Argent Associates.

“The UX Edge kiosks provide engaging entertainment and informative content while vehicles are charging, including directions, nearby points of interest and Jacksons Store point-of-sale promotions,” said Betty Manetta, CEO of Argent Associates.

The EV charger deployments are made possible by OnPoint EV Solutions’ new partnership with Uptime Charger, a national EV charging electronic power control and management company from Michigan; Influent Energy, a solar energy company from Kansas City, Missouri; and Argent Associates, JV Partner and network and digital kiosk company from Plano, Texas.
