The Kwik Trip Charge electric-vehicle (EV) charging program is coming to a strategic number of its stores across the Midwest, the La Crosse, Wisconsin-based company said Monday.

The program, which will offer direct-current fast chargers (DCFCs) to EV customers, will include connectors for Combined Charging Standard (CCS) and the North American Charging Standard (NACS), allowing drivers of almost any type of EV to charge in a safe, clean and staffed 24/7 location, the company said.

  • Kwik Trip is No. 11 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.

The chargers will offer a minimum of 150 kilowatts of power when four vehicles are plugged in or up to 400 kilowatts of power for a single vehicle.

Rates for charging vehicles will vary, but a standalone mobile app will allow customers to view charger availability and pricing—and find charger locations on their route, Kwik Trip said.

“At Kwik Trip, our goal is to take care of all our guests,” said Kwik Trip President Scott Zietlow. “We are pleased to offer the Kwik Charge program to our guests who drive EVs. They will not only be able to charge their vehicle but can take advantage of all our quality offerings inside our stores.”

Kwik Trip operates in Wisconsin, Minnesota and northern Michigan under the Kwik Trip name, and in Iowa, Illinois and South Dakota under the Kwik Star banner. Kwik Trip was recently named the best gas station brand in the United States for the fifth year in a row, according to the 2024 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The family-owned company has about 850 locations and is one of the biggest independently held c-store chains in the country.
