CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas --Stripes opened its largest convenience store, in Corpus Christi, Texas, with a grand-opening fiesta and ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 14. The new Stripes location will offer Sunoco fuel, the brand's debut in the Lone Star State.
The site features 16 Sunoco-branded duel dispenser options, which include unleaded, unleaded, super-unleaded and diesel.
The grand opening celebration showcased the foods available from Laredo Taco Co. located in the new Stripes Store. In addition to games and food sampling, NASCAR Show Car No. 88 was on site, and former Dallas Cowboys NFL pro-football player Kevin Smith, 3x Super Bowl Champion, held an autograph session.
Mayor Nelda Martinez, along with the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce and Corpus Christi Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, cut the ribbon for the new Stripes Store, which has added more than 30 new jobs to the community.
Stripes also presented a $1,000 donation check to Mary Grett School Transition Center.
The new Stripes Store features Laredo Taco Co., a dining area which seats 40, "the wall"--a creative space where customers can customize their beverages with more than 2.1 billion possible flavor fountain combinations, "the beer super cooler"--a designated cooler for beer/adult beverages set to cool below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as 7,000 square feet of store space.
Dallas-based Energy Transfer Partners, which owns Philadelphia-based Sunoco, acquired Susser Holdings Corp., Corpus Christi, Texas, and combined its Houston-based Susser Petroleum with Sunoco and renamed it Sunoco LP.
Stripes operates more than 645 convenience stores in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, more than 580 under the Stripes banner and 47 under the Sac-N-Pac banner.
