Upside has launched a new cash back fuel offer in New Jersey, with convenience-store chain QuickChek as its first partner.

QuickChek, part of El Dorado, Arkansas-based Murphy USA, is the first fuel brand to go live with 70 locations, Upside said in a news release on Monday.

Washington, D.C.-based Upside’s new fuel offer model allows fuel and convenience retailers a new tool to compete for increasingly value-driven drivers, the company said.

“Moments like this change how customers make their fuel decisions,” said Sam Berkovitz, vice president of enterprise fuel at Upside. “When drivers are actively seeking value, the retailers who show up with a compelling offer don’t just capture demand—they shape it.”

  • Murphy USA Inc. is No. 4 on CSP’s 2026 Top 40 update to the 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count. GPM Investments LLC is No. 10. Watch for the full 2026 Top 202 ranking in June.

Through the cash back fuel offer, QuickChek will gain immediate visibility with a growing base of consumers actively comparing where to fill up, Upside said. Upside is a marketplace that connects millions of consumers with retailers through personalized offers. The platform helps consumers earn cash back on everyday purchases while enabling retailers to drive traffic, Upside said.

To get the cash back deal, customers can download the free Upside app and claim a cash back offer at a location near them. Customers earn money when they shop with their credit or debit card, and they can cash out their earnings directly in their bank accounts, PayPal or a gift card. Upside users earn about 11 cents per gallon in cash back on average, the company said.

“This is a first for New Jersey drivers, and we wanted QuickChek to lead it,” said Shelby Padgett, senior manager digital fuels projects at QuickChek. “Cash back on gas gives customers another simple, tangible reason to choose us every time they fill up.”

New Jersey’s position within the Tri-State commuter corridor further amplifies the opportunity, as drivers traveling between New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania can carry their earning behavior across state lines, Upside said.

Upside said it expects to expand beyond the initial QuickChek footprint in the coming months.

Murphy USA had a total of 1,800 stores as of Dec. 31—1,649 Murphy USA and Murphy Express stores and 151 QuickChek stores.
