Walmart on Monday said it is adding CITGO gas stations to its Walmart+ membership fuel discount program. Walmart+ members can save 10 cents per gallon (CPG) at CITGO Petroleum Corp. locations, Walmart said.
The Bentonville, Arkansas-based retailer is expanding its fuel discount program for Walmart+ members, increasing participating stations from 13,000 to more than 17,000 across the United States—a growth of more than 30%.
“A membership has to earn its place in a household budget,” said Deepak Maini, senior vice president and general manager of Walmart+. “That’s why we’re focused on delivering real value members can use again and again. Expanding our gas savings benefit by adding CITGO stations gives members even more places to save, with convenient locations that fit into their rhythm of daily life.”
Walmart said Walmart+ members can access fuel discounts at CITGO stations by activating the benefit through the Walmart app and creating or linking a Club CITGO account. Members enter their Club CITGO phone number at the pump or inside the station when paying with cash, and the 10 cents per gallon discount is automatically applied to the transaction, Walmart said. The retailer said members may also receive additional Club CITGO rewards on top of the Walmart+ discount.
“The Club Citgo network provides great choice and convenience when Walmart+ members are on the road,” said Chris Kiesling, assistant vice president of light oil operations and marketing for CITGO. “At participating CITGO locations, Walmart+ members can redeem their Walmart Gas Savings benefit and stack additional savings when they join the Club CITGO loyalty program.”
