Del Monte Fresh Produce Introduces New C-Store Line

Low-calorie meals offer vegetarian and plant-based options

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Del Monte Fresh Produce has introduced a new convenience-store line based on fresh vegetables and low calorie counts.

Better Break products contain 130 or less calories per serving. The prepared meals—which include vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli, sweet potato and kale in sauces—heat up in three minutes and are wrapped in microwave-safe, BPA-free packaging.

The meals offer vegetarian and plant-based options and contain 4 grams of protein per serving. Varieties include Spicy Pomodoro, made with kohlrabi linguine and spicy chipotle pepper tomato sauce; and Summer Corn, made with cauliflower, broccoli, sweet potato, kale and corn sauce with roasted corn and bell pepper.

The single-serve offerings will be available at c-stores this summer and cost $3.99 each.

“We know that our consumers—millennials especially—are looking for tasty, convenient and wholesome options when it comes to lunch and afternoon snacking," said Dennis Christou, vice president marketing, Del Monte Fresh Produce. "Better Break is our solution for everyone who may be too busy to prepare their own plant-forward options, and we look forward to adding them to our Del Monte lineup at our retailers nationwide this summer.”

Coral Gables, Fla.-based Del Monte Fresh Produce is a vertically integrated producer, marketer and distributor of fresh fruit and vegetables.
