Hess Keeps Toying With Retail

Continues annual tradition despite station divestment

NEW YORK – Although it has jettisoned its retail network, Hess Corp. is still hanging on to tradition. The company has announced that the 2016 Hess toy truck is now available online.

While the trucks used to be available in Hess retail outlets, consumers now can purchase the Hess Toy Truck and Dragster exclusively at www.hesstoytruck.com for $31.99 with free standard shipping and five Energizer batteries included.

This year’s truck features LED lights, a slide-out ramp and four realistic sounds including a race-starting countdown. The dragster’s weight-transfer design and pull-back friction motor enable launch in either a flat or wheelie position. The two vehicles feature green accents, sleek chrome styling and more than 50 brilliant lights.

The Hess Toy Truck has been a holiday tradition since 1964 and is one of the longest-running toy brands on the market.

Findlay, Ohio-based Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) subsidiary Speedway LLC, Enon, Ohio, closed its acquisition of Hess Corp.'s 1,200-unit retail operations and related assets in September 2014, a $2.82 billion transaction announced in May 2014. The stations have since been rebranded from Hess and WilcoHess to Speedway.

New York-based Hess is a global independent energy company engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas.
