Impact a Hero

Wristband, events to honor disabled vets

SUGAR LAND, Texas -- As a fundraiser to support severely disabled heroes of the War on Terrorism, Impact Player Partners, a nonprofit organization consisting of business leaders, athletes, entertainers and sports franchises, is offering special red, white and blue Impact a Hero wristbands.

The wristbandsavailable for resale in-store by convenience stores and other retailers, as well as for individual purchasecan be ordered on the organization's website, www.impactplayer.org. It comes in youth [image-nocss] and adult sizes.

Cincinnati-based Impact Player Partners also has organized Impact a Hero Weekend: Celebration & Challenge, which will include several events in early June to support the disabled vets.

June 4 events include the Impact A Hero 5k Challenge Run, Walk, Wheel at Lost Creek Park, Sugar Land, Texas; the Impact A Hero BBQ at Lost Creek Park; and the Impact A Hero day with the Houston Astrosat Minute Maid Park in Houston. On June 5, more than 30 wounded veterans will be part of a special ceremony at the Impact Players Hall of Fame Dinner in Sugar Land. The Impact Player Partner Golf Challenge will be held June 6 at the Shadow Hawk Golf Club and the Houstonian Golf & Country Club, hosted by Ben Crenshaw.

Participants to date include former First Lady Barbara Bush; Drayton McLane and the Astros, participating by honoring 30 severely wounded heroes back from Iraq and Afghanistan on June 5 at the Astros vs. Cardinals game; Jeff Gordon; Arnold Palmer; Adam Sandler; George Strait; the New York Yankees, New York Knicks, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins; and more, the organization said.

Impact Player Partners is dedicated to providing continuous emotional, career and financial support to American military personnel who are severely injured or disabled due to serving all Americans in the War on Terrorism.
