Marathon Issues Lighter Recall

Product purchased at Speedway, SuperAmerica, Rich stores may flare, catch fire

FINDLAY, Ohio -- Marathon Petroleum Co. LLC has issued a recall of its Speedway cigarette lighters, sold exclusively at Speedway, SuperAmerica and Rich convenience stores between July 1 and October 5.

The lighters may flare up or catch fire when a consumer is attempting to use them.

The company said, If the lighter you have purchased has a Speedway logo on the front and the warning information on the back is only in black type (no red type), please do not attempt to start the lighter, discontinue use immediately and avoid unnecessary [image-nocss] handling. Return the product to the store where the lighter was purchased for a full refund. Contact the nearest Speedway location immediately and stop using the lighter. If you are not located near a Speedway store, please call Speedway Customer Service at 1-800-643-1948.

The recall applies to lighters purchased at all Speedway, SuperAmerica and Rich branded locations in Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and South Dakota.
