Releev Cold Sore Treatment Arrives in C-Stores

Product now available in 7-Eleven, heading to Circle K

BARRINGTON, Ill. – Merix Pharmaceutical Corp. has launched its over-the-counter cold-sore relief product, Releev 1 Day Cold Sore Symptom Treatment, in select convenience stores throughout the United States. Since its launch in 1999, the product has been available in drugstores such as Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aid. Releev is now available in various 7-Eleven locations and will soon arrive in Circle K stores.

Releev stops the tingling, itching, pain, burning and blistering associated with cold sores and fever blisters, the company said. It is applied directly on the infection, either on the skin or inside the lips. It eases cold sore pain within 10 minutes and alleviates other skin irritation symptoms within 24 hours, according to Merix.

Releev’s main ingredient is Viracea, a proprietary botanical extract formula that contains Echinacea Extract and Benzalkonium Chloride among other natural additives.

The product comes in a 6-milileter tube, intended for on-the-go purchases.

This comes at a successful period for the lip treatments, which have grown at least a 50% in sales in the Midwest, East, South and Northeast regions since 2015, according to Nielsen data.

Barrington, Ill.-based Merix is a privately owned company that focuses on developing and marketing products based upon its licensed bio-technology, Viracea. The company was founded in 1998 by inventor and biomedical researcher, Meryl Squires.
