11 New Products That Stood Out at the 2022 McLane Trade Show
By Steve Holtz on Sep. 23, 2022ORLANDO, Fla. — Dozens of retail-product manufacturers, large and small, displayed their wares during the McLane Co. National Trade Show in Orlando, Fla., in August. Here’s a look at a variety of new products—candy, snacks, beverages, packaged foods and more—unveiled during the Temple, Texas-based distributors trade show, it first in-person event since 2020. All products are available through the McLane distribution system.
Hershey
Hershey debuted or teased a variety of new products across its portfolio. New from Reese’s: Reese’s Big Cup With Reese’s Puffs, stuffed with Reese’s Puffs breakfast cereal, and Reese’s Dipped Animal Crackers. The candy maker will add IceBreakers Ice Cubes Mint Crystals to its gum line. And coming in gummy candies: Jolly Rancher Sour Lemonade and Twizzlers Gummies. All new products are due in November.
Kellogg Co.
While Kellogg Co. displayed several of its familiar packaged-snack brands, the company featured a collection of its MorningStar Farms division’s plant-based products for use in foodservice operations. The products included new Incogmeato Plant-Based Chik’n Tenders, Veggie Chorizo Crumbles and Veggie Sausage Patties. The products are currently in test in several convenience-store chains, according to the company.
Whisps
Whisps Cheese Crisps unveiled the newest addition to its line of packaged snacks. Whisps Cheese and Pretzel Bites combine two popular snack tastes and textures into bite-size crisps. Available in Cheddar, Honey Mustard and Everything flavors.
Living Essentials
Living Essentials debuted its newest 5 hour Energy shot flavor—Hawaiian Breeze—to the market this month. The energy supplement—passionfruit, orange and guava flavors—is available in 6-, 12- and 24-count packs.
E.A. Sween Co. (EAS)
Packaged-food manufacturer E.A. Sween launched a line of refrigerated quesadillas in May. The additions to its San Luis line come in three styles: Three Cheese (Vegetarian), Chicken & Cheese and Pork Carnitas.
Mars Wrigley
Mars Wrigley is introducing a variety of line extensions to its familiar candy brands. They include M&M’s Caramel Cold Brew, Milky Way Cookie Dough, Twix Cookie Dough and Extra Pink Lemonade Sugarfree Gum.
Path Water
Path Water will add flavored options to its line of sparkling waters this fall. The new drinks will be available in 20-ounce, reusable aluminum bottles and in three flavors: Grapefruit Mango, Lemon Lime and Raspberry Orange.
Eagle Foods
Eagle Foods announced plans to introduce its Cretors Small-Batch Popcorn into convenience stores with smaller package sizes. Current take-home sizes, intended for grocery, are 4.5-ounce sizes. New packaging will be 1.5-ounce or 2.5-ounce for single-serve use. Cretors is available in Caramel, Cheddar Cheese and other flavors.
Hormel
Hormel’s Skippy Squeeze packages are available in shelf-ready six-pack display boxes. Skippy Squeeze Peanut Butter spreads are available in 6-ounce pouches in Creamy and Natural Creamy styles. Suggested retail price is $3.99.
Calbee
Calbee rebranded and repackaged its Harvest Snaps Crunchions line of baked red lentil snacks. Now dubbed Crunchy Loops, the snacks are packaged in 2-ounce bags and available in 8-unit shelf-ready boxes. Crunchy Loops are available in Sour Cream & Onion and Kick’n BBQ flavors.
Nellie’s Free Range Eggs
Nellie’s Sous Vide Egg Bites are now packaged for c-stores in right-pack shelf-ready boxes. Each package contains two fully-cooked Egg Bites that can be heated in a minute or less. Available in three flavor combinations: Uncured Ham & Swiss, Broccoli & Cheddar and Uncured Bacon & Pepper Jack.
