3 Convenience Stores Win Awards at Private-Label Trade Show

ROSEMONT, Ill. — Three convenience-store retailers are among the winners in the 2022 Salute to Excellence Awards showcased at the recent Private Label Manufacturers Association trade show.

Candy, water and a snack were the three items receiving kudos at the show in Rosemont, Ill.

The awards recognize “outstanding store-brand products introduced on the shelves of supermarkets, drug chains, mass merchandisers, wholesale clubs, convenience stores and specialty retailers from coast to coast, as well as online,” the association said.

More than 725 products were submitted for consideration in the categories of food, beverage, kitchen, household and health and beauty. Entries were evaluated by a panel of professional and consumer judges for taste and sensory appeal, packaging, product concept and value for the money.

Up Water from Casey’s General Stores, Ankeny, Iowa, was recognized in the beverages-water category. The ultra-purified water has a pH of 7.5 with electrolytes added for taste.

The aluminum can, which contains 1-liter, or 33.8 ounces, is certified refillable, BPA free and 100% recyclable.

These Fruit Flavored Filled Ropes from Irving, Texas-based 7-Eleven won in the snacks-confectionary-candy category.

The 5-ounce bag of ropes are naturally and artificially flavored.

Chaos Xtreme potato chips from Salt Lake City-based Maverik was a winner in the snacks-salty snack chips category.

The chips are part of the retailer’s Maverik Adventure Fuel line.
