The fountain soda at Thorntons Inc. is pretty cool, literally. The beverages are chilled to 39 degrees Fahrenheit, and customers fearless in the face of a brain freeze can cool the beverage down further with nugget ice and an insulated cup. The Louisville, Ky.-based retailer has a wide variety of fountain options, with some stores touting 24 different flavors. Thorntons has also partnered with smaller soda manufacturers, such as Ale-8.
Even colder than the soda, the chain’s beer caves are kept at 34 degrees. The c-store’s cold and hot dispensed beverages are rounded out with Frizz Freez frozen drinks, coffee and espresso drinks and iced tea.
