Kum & Go partners with Habitat for Humanity for third year with new promotion

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- For the third consecutive year, Kum & Go convenience stores and Habitat for Humanity are partnering on a national campaign that features a corporate donation and in-store fundraising during the month of March.

Customers can donate in-stores throughout the month of March.

Between March 1 and 31, customers can add a $1 Habitat donation to in-store purchases. New this year, customers who donate $1 or more will receive a coupon for $1 off any whole pizza. Or they can purchase Kum & Go water, and Kum & Go will donate 10 cents per bottle to Habitat for Humanity.

Through their donations, Kum & Go customers will help select a community in which Kum & Go will sponsor the construction of a new Habitat home.

Kum & Go is committing a $210,000 corporate gift this year to support Habitat’s work to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

In addition to funding a new Habitat home, Kum & Go will distribute several grants to Habitat for Humanity offices. Grants will be based on which Kum & Go service areas raise the most money through customer traffic.

“Kum & Go and Habitat for Humanity both share a commitment to building great communities,” said Kyle J. Krause, president and CEO of Kum & Go. “Along with the generous contributions of our loyal customers and through the support of our store associates, Kum & Go is proud to once again support Habitat for Humanity this year.”

In the last two years, Kum & Go and its customers have contributed nearly $1 million to Habitat for Humanity. Two Kum & Go-sponsored homes have been built in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Minot, N.D., as a result of the donations.

“We are so pleased to partner with Kum & Go and their customers again in 2016,” said Colleen Finn Ridenhour, deputy director of corporate, foundation and institutional relations at Habitat for Humanity International. “This partnership has grown and expanded every year, reaching more families who are working to build a better life for themselves and their families. We are very grateful for Kum & Go’s support.”

Kum & Go, Habitat for Humanity’s only national convenience-store partner, donates 10% of profits to charitable causes in its community. Habitat for Humanity works in 1,400 communities in the United States, where future homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go has 430 convenience stores in 11 states (Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming).
