Speedway Raises $5.6 Million for CMN Hospitals

New record in giving for retailer

SALT LAKE CITY -- As a result of its 2010 fundraising campaign, Speedway SuperAmerica LLC has donated $5.6 million to Children's Miracle Network hospitals, a charity that raises funds for 170 children's hospitals.

This represents a new record in giving for Speedway employees, customers and vendor partners. Additionally, 2010 marks the second consecutive year that Speedway has increased its fundraising contribution by more than $1 million as compared to the previous year.

"Thanks to the generosity of Speedway employees and customers, these funds will help millions [image-nocss] of kids by supporting research and training, purchasing equipment, and providing charitable care," said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

"We are committed to making a positive difference in the communities in which we have the privilege to operate," said Tony Kenney, president of Speedway. "This tremendous accomplishment simply could not have happened without the sincere care and enthusiasm our employees have for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Helping children in need through our longtime affiliation with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals makes all of us at Speedway very proud. Many of our customers must feel the same, even when they give in nickels and dimes. Clearly, a little change can make a big difference."

Speedway raises funds for Children's Miracle Network hospitals in a variety of ways across its market areas. Speedway has been a committed supporter of Children's Miracle Network hospitals since 1991and has raised more than $39 million for children's hospitals.

Enon, Ohio-based SSA is one of the nation's largest company-owned and -operated c-store chains and the largest in the Midwest with approximately 1,350 stores located inseven states. Most of the stores are operated under the Speedway and SuperAmerica brand names. SSA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marathon Oil Corp., Houston.
