SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. --Stewart’s Shops has announced another record-breaking season for its Holiday Match program, which supports children’s charities year round. From Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day, Stewart’s customers generously donated $870,000 to the program, which will be doubled to $1.74 million with the Stewart’s match.
The money raised is a 12% increase (nearly $100,000 increase in customer donations) over the record $1.54 million raised in the 2014 season, which was allocated to 1,600 children’s organizations.
After this year’s funds have been distributed, the Stewart’s Holiday Match program will have allocated more than $21 million since the program’s inception in 1986.
The chain collected donations from Nov. 26 through Dec. 25 at all 332 Stewart’s Shops in upstate New York and western Vermont. Stewart’s matches all individual customer donations. There are no administrative costs and 100% of the funds collected and matched benefit children’s organizations within the communities where Stewart’s Shops are located. Those funds will be allocated in March.
Local children’s organizations can apply for funding by filling out an application available here on the convenience-store retailer’s website, and paper applications are also available in the shops. The deadline for submission is Jan. 31, 2016. All groups applying must be locally based, benefit children under 18 and be a qualified, charitable 501c3 organization.
A brochure listing all the local organizations that received funds last season is also available online or in all Stewart’s Shops.
Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Stewart's Shops operates more than 330 convenience stores in New York and Vermont and has annual sales of approximately $1.6 billion.
