UPDATE: Convenience Thanks Veterans

More chains honor service with Nov. 11 deals

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- In many ways, the convenience industry always rises to the occasion each year of honoring veterans and active military personnel on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Among the many offers:

Delta Sonic Veterans Day

Alon Brands

In honor of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, Alon Brands, the Dallas-based supplier and marketer of ALON fuels and largest 7-Eleven licensee in North America, will provide free coffees and Big Gulp fountain drinks for all veterans and active duty service members.

Circle K

Circle K Arizona said that all veterans and active military get a free 16-ounce coffee or any size Polar Pop on Veterans Day.

CST Brands

Corner Stores across the United States are saluting military members and veterans by giving away any size Cibolo Mountain coffee or Flavors2Go fountain drink to all active and retired military members with a military ID on Nov. 11.

"Our military service members make great sacrifices for our nation and this gives our Team Members the opportunity to personally thank those men and women," said Kim Bowers, CEO of San Antonio-based CST Brands, Corner Store's parent company. "Our team members have strong relationships with our customers and are excited to honor those who have served our country and community."

Corner Store's Canadian locations will offer a free 350 ml coffee to all customers wearing a red poppy pin, which is Canada's symbol of Remembrance Day. The Royal Canadian Legion sells replica poppies to raise money for veterans.

Delta Sonic

Delta Sonic Car Wash Systems Inc., Buffalo, N.Y., is offering free a Super Kiss car wash and oil change for all active military and veterans on Nov. 11.

Pilot Flying J

Pilot Flying J will spend Veterans Day honoring and celebrating professional drivers who are also veterans. The truckstop chain will offer free showers to professional drivers showing valid proof of service on Veterans Day.

"Veterans Day is a special day dedicated to thanking those who have so fearlessly and loyally served our country," said Jimmy Haslam, CEO of Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Flying J. "We hope all veterans know how deeply we appreciate the sacrifices they have made. A free shower offer is one of the many ways we are saying thank you to veterans."

Rutter's Farm Stores

York, Pa.-based Rutter's Farm Stores Inc. is saluting veteran with a free cup of coffee on Nov. 11. Active duty or retired veterans must present a valid military identification card, be in uniform or show other proof of military service.

Susser Holdings

In honor of Veterans Day, Stripes Convenience Stores will offer military service men and women a free hot breakfast on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2013, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at participating Stripes stores in Lawton, Okla., said Corpus Christi, Texas-bases Susser Holdings Corp. The Veterans Day Free Hot Breakfast offer includes a free sausage biscuit and a free 16-ounce coffee. All military personnel must show a valid military identification card at the time of checkout.

Terrible Herbst

Terrible's Car Wash is continuing a Las Vegas tradition it began years ago. To show its support and gratitude for our armed forces personnel, Terrible Herbst is rewarding U.S. military veterans and armed forces for their service with a free car wash.

Military veterans and active military service personnel may visit any of Terrible Herbst Inc.'s 17 manned car wash locations in Las Vegas anytime on Nov. 11, and receive a free basic full-service or basic exterior car wash. Military service personnel and military veterans can show their military ID to receive their complimentary wash; one wash per military ID.

"Our armed service personnel do so much for our country, that we wanted to do our part to recognize their service and say thank you on Veterans Day," said Scott Horner, director of car wash operations for Terrible Herbst.

Toot'n Totum

In honor of those who have served our country, veterans can receive a free car wash and $10 off a full-service oil change at any of Toot'n Totum's car care centers on Nov. 11, the Amarillo, texas-based retailer said.

TravelCenters of America

TravelCenters of America LLC, operator of TA and Petro Stopping Centers branded travel centers, is inviting all truck drivers who are also veterans of the United States armed services to enjoy a complimentary meal on Veterans Day at any of its participating U.S. sitdown restaurants. They can receive a meal at any of the more than 170 participating Iron Skillet, Country Pride and other of the full-service, home-style restaurants within the network.

"Professional drivers who are veterans have spent their life sacrificing personal and family time both in the armed forces and every day on the road," said Tom O'Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters of America, Westlake, Ohio. "We want to take this opportunity to recognize them for these sacrifices and the contributions they have made to our country while in the service, and to each of us by moving all of the products we use and need," he added.

On Nov. 11, anyone who is a veteran of the armed forces and holds a CDL can receive a complimentary meal of their choice (up to a $15 value) by showing proof of service to their server prior to ordering their meal.

Turkey Hill

In honor of Veterans Day, Turkey Hill Stores, Lancaster, Pa., is giving a free car wash to all veterans.
