7-Eleven Targeting Tacoma

Sees growth opportunity in northwestern Washington
TACOMA, Wash. -- 7-Eleven Inc. is opening five locations in Pierce County and three in Thurston County for a total of eight new stores in the Tacoma, Lacey and Olympia, Wash., area, reported The News-Tribune.

"Western Washington is an aggressive growth area," Tim Bain, company franchise sales representative, told the newspaper. "We have a number of new stores being built, and we're looking for franchisees."

He added, "We still see a lot of opportunity, especially in Tacoma."

The Tacoma stores, he said, will open between late July and October. If franchisees [image-nocss] have not been found, the stores will open under corporate management. Franchises are available for under $200,000, he said, with $171,000 up front and $20,000 for initial inventory.

"We're definitely looking for new blood out there," he said. "Tacoma seems to be the one we're really targeting. We just had a meeting in Dallas. It's an encouraging sign when you're working for a company that's growing."Based in Dallas, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 8,400 7-Eleven stores in North America. Globally, there are approximately 40,900 7-Eleven stores in 16 countries. During 2010, 7-Eleven stores worldwide generated total sales close to $63 billion.
