7-Eleven's Drive to Innovate (Video)

EVP Delgado-Jenkins on how the chain sped up its process to bring new ideas to market faster

DALLAS -- CSP magazine recognized 7-Eleven Inc. for its breakthroughs in product development with a CRU Award during the 2016 Convenience Retailing University conference in Dallas.

Dallas-based 7-Eleven’s innovation team functions independently of much of the company as a way to continually explore and evaluate products and services to bring into stores.

“If we’re not keeping pace with [customers’] needs, we’re not driving sales,” said Jesus Delgado-Jenkins, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for 7-Eleven. “You can discount and promote, but if you’re not bringing in new products with the taste, quality ingredients, texture and functional needs they want, you can’t propel sales.”
