OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. -- The staff of CSP magazine has again been recognized by the American Society of Business Press Editors (ASBPE) for insightful analysis and a thoughtful profile of an industry legend, along with a special issue.
For the third year in a row, the group has nominated senior editor/special projects coordinator Samantha Oller as a finalist for her analysis of CSP's proprietary research study, the Outlook Survey. Last year, she won a bronze national award for her story on the 2012 survey.
Senior editor/content development coordinator Angel Abcede is again a finalist in the individual profile category, this time for his story on Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes president John MacDougall, CSP's 2013 Retail Leader of the Year. Angel last year took home a regional gold award for his 2012 profile of CSP's previous Retail Leader of the Year, Kwik Trip's Don Zietlow.
ASBPE has also recognized Abcede for his profiles of 7-Eleven's Joe DePinto and RaceTrac's Carl Bolch Jr.
Samantha again is nominated, along with director of editorial production Jennifer Bulat and former lead designer Jenn Parquette, in the category of special supplement for the 2013 Category Management Handbook (CMH). The association has recognized this in-depth special issue of CSP numerous times over the past 10 years for excellence in information graphics.
"If there is a constant knock on our door, it's that retailers want data with strategic insights, and they want to hear from their colleagues, especially those best in class who serve as our channel's role models," said Mitch Morrison, vice president and group editor. "Our Outlook Survey, CMH and Retail Leader of the Year are CSP's journalistic pillars of human interest and strategic insights. We are incredibly proud of the superior reporting we're delivering both in print and online."
The Wheaton, Ill.-based group will announce levels of the awards--gold, silver or bronze--at a regional awards banquet in Chicago in July.
