'Avengers Assemble!'

Former Pantry exec Williams joins all-star roster at Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores

RICHMOND, Va. -- Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores (MACS), one of the largest ExxonMobil fuel distributors in the Mid-Atlantic region, continues its "winning streak" of recruiting heavy hitters from around the convenience industry with the appointment of Brad Williams, former senior vice president of operations at The Pantry, to its executive leadership team.

Since its formation in 2010, MACS has assembled a team with impressive credentials earned at retailers including 7-Eleven, ExxonMobil, Giant Eagle, GPM/Fas Mart, Spinx and Wawa, among others, as well as NACS (see Related Content below for previous CSP Daily News coverage of the MACS lineup).

As reported yesterday in a Morgan Keegan/CSP Daily News Flash, Williams will serve as senior vice president of store operations and will oversee and foster growth across MACS' entire retail portfolio, including all retail store operations, loss prevention, safety, risk management, maintenance and facilities. In addition, Williams will focus his energies on driving market opportunities, generating stores' top-line revenues and profitability and supporting future growth opportunities.

"Brad is a visionary strategist and a results-oriented leader who knows how to build strong teams and motivate those he leads to exceed expectations," said MACS CEO Dan Pastor, who joined the company from Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle. "We believe Brad's talent for driving store-level execution will greatly benefit our company."

Williams most recently served as senior vice president of operations at The Pantry, the nation's third largest convenience store chain. He was responsible for the company's four operating divisions, consisting of more than 1,650 company-operated convenience stores across 13 states. Williams was instrumental in developing go-to-market strategies and executing annual business plans. While at The Pantry, he managed the integration of several acquisitions and brings strong expertise to MACS.

Williams also has held positions in merchandising and marketing at additional c-store chains, including E-Z Serve Convenience Stores Inc. and ConocoPhillips, contributing to his nearly 20 years of experience in the petroleum, foodservice and c-store industries.

Williams has been a leader with various councils and industry advisory boards, and he currently serves on the NACS/Coca-Cola Retailing Research Council (CCRRC).

Based in Richmond, Va., MACS is a leading c-store operator in Maryland and Virginia with a network of approximately 300 company-owned and dealer locations, in addition to its wholesale fuel distribution network.
